News Release from City of Vancouver Vancouver, Washington – The community is invited to come out and celebrate 2020 Olympic Games silver medal winning gymnast Jordan Chiles at Vancouver’s Olympian Homecoming Parade starting at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22.

The parade will start at the Dairy Queen in Uptown Village (2707 Main St.), travel down Main Street to West Sixth Street, and continue west on West Sixth Street where it will stop at Vancouver City Hall (415 W. Sixth St.). Spectators are welcome to stand on the sidewalk along Main Street to cheer Chiles during the parade.

Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle will then present Chiles with a Key to the City in a short ceremony outside city hall at about 1:20 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. Chiles will be available for photos and autographs after the Key to the City presentation. The parade will then continue back up Main Street and end at the Dairy Queen.

Vintage cars carrying Chiles and her family members and live music are being provided by the Slo Pok Car Club.

Three Vancouver-area hometown heroes competed in the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, this year. The city also invited Team USA Paralympian Yen Hoang (track and field) and Olympian Kara Winger (track and field) to participate in the parade, but both women are out of the country this month. The city will present each of them with a Key to the City later this fall.

Chiles graduated from Prairie High School in 2019. She competed in the vault, floor exercise and balance beam events at the summer Olympics and won a silver medal for Team USA in the women’s artistic all-around event.

Hoang graduated from Evergreen High School in 2015. She will compete in the 100-meter, 400-meter, 800-meter and 1,500-meter track and field events at this year’s Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Winger graduated from Skyview High School in 2004. She is a four-time Olympian (2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020) and competed in the javelin throw event at this year’s Olympic Games.
